Highly contrversial I know, and with four kids I am probably not the best person to be saying this, but here are my reasons;
1. How many more houses can be built and yet retain enough farm land.
2. Less farm land, less food.
3. Less Rain Forest less oxygen, less species etc.
4. More people less space.
5. More people, more goods required, more of Earths dwindling resources used up.
6. More people more pollution.
7. More people, means more people to transfer to another planet!!!
And nobody seems to care!!

I think your right two kids is enough, one per parent is enough to handle. I think that those who abuse our welfare system should be controlled, and not be allowed to bring more than one child into this world unless they have the means or support from extended family and prove to be raising that child with decent morals and the care it deserves before having more children. There will always be exceptions to the rule and those who genuinely need help because of unfortunate circumstances, but those who consider it their right to be on benefit should be ashamed of sponging of society. What really bugs me is the comfort prisoners are afforded in prison, when others struggle to make ends meet and even maintain a basic quality of life. Why can we not use this manpower to societies advantage and improve our infastructure, i.e. fixing pot holes, road mending etc. surely we have the technology to control this people whilst outside the confines of the prison walls, rather than having to pay twice and have our council tax raised as council workers/quangos do this work instead. Personally I reckon we should just require a license to breed. People should be able to demonstrate basic parenting skills before being allowed to, and there should be heavy penalties for procreating without one.

I thought the answer to overpopulation and food shortages was to live in underwater cities and harvest seaweed ... Simples !
(Don't forget to watch tonight's episode of SCUBA SQUAD !!!)

do we as humans have the right to control nature? god works in mysterious ways and has a plan, as mere mortals we are not capable of understanding

I think when we are affecting nature, we have not only have a right, but a duty to do something about it, if God didn't want us to to be able to do something about it, why did he give us the skills to be able to do something about it?

not all skills are from god, remember adam disobeyed god and ate fruit from the tree of knowledge, and ever since man has interfered and questioned things that we really should leave to our maker. but everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs.
not quite sure i agree with jerry, having an only child and being financally secure does not mean the offspring are morally better than a child from a large family? in fact you usually find that it is someone who comes from a poor large family that end up contributing a lot more to society. every soul born has a right to inhabit our planet.

If you beleive that about Adam and Eve, I can see your reasoning, however I find a lot of what is written in the Old testament to be somewhat dubious, and the same in the new testament with Church interpolation;
http://www.awitness.org/nt/mark.html and forgery in Mark from 16.8 etc, means one has to do carefull study to get a real feel for what is really being said, and what to follow IMHO
I sincierly believe God gave us these skills to use through evolution, no one else.
Actually Jerry doesn't quite say it in that context, when read through he is saying something completely different
Innaction in 1938 cost at least 70 million lives, to hide behind the thought that God has a plan and we should do nothing as God has given pre-destiny is IMHO false. I beleive this concept comes from Paul's Ephesians 1:11, however it is a forgery as Paul didn't write it, and Ephesians shouldn't even be in the Bible, let alone preached from

i have to say that i agree with your thoughts on the bible ( i dont often agree with others lol) i do not consider the bible to be a book we should religously follow as it was put together by man. and the original manuscripts were translated and have been revised so many times the true meanings have been lost

I'm still very much re-searching the Bible, I wonder what it would be like if it was holy true, and if there is an original untouched version

when i researched it many years ago, think i was about 13 at the time, it was interesting to hear that the most accurate parts were the accounts that can be backed up with records that the romans kept.
i personally prefer the kings james version as you have to think a little more when trying to understand it. really cant be doing with the good news version.
at the end of the day for me i find christianity has branched off in a totally different direction from me. but probally best to keep my opinions to myself as i do have a habit of upsetting people with my views

some years ago i remember watching a documentary on tv, it was called god the spaceman? very interesting as it compared original accounts of jesus rising from death and ascending into heaven, with drawings found in a cave by archeologists thedrawings seemed to depict a rocket and men wearing space helmets and greathing apperatus? sounds weird but was interesting
